Making the switch from reactive to proactive communications

SBTi

How do you shift from reactive to proactive?

The Challenge

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) helps drive private sector decarbonisation by setting the standard for ambitious emissions reduction targets. Faced with a lot of scrutiny, in the past, too much of their communications efforts were channelled towards responding to questions, rather than supporting their mission. A proactive communications programme was needed to better reach businesses and implement meaningful change.

The Solution

Over the past two years, we’ve partnered with the SBTi to help them develop robust proactive messaging and achieve positive earned media coverage about their sector-based guidance, organisational transformation, and the rapid increase in businesses setting science-based targets.

The Results

50

pieces of coverage secured with tier one trade media

23

media briefings secured with leading publications including Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Reuters, New York Times and Bloomberg

Engagement

A measurable shift in media engagement from reactive Q&A to discussions focused on the core ambitions of the SBTi.
