European Wind Power Package

On October 24th, the European Commission put forward its Wind Power Package to jump-start Europe’s wind power sector.

Seeking to address concerns raised by industry regarding production capacity, skills shortages, and unfair competitive practices from third countries, the package also provides substantial financial support and regulatory improvements to facilitate investment in wind energy projects. At the same time, the Commission has also put forward a Communication outlining its commitments to offshore renewable energy production, which broadly echoes the ambitions laid out in the Wind Power Package.

The ultimate goal is to provide these sectors with more predictability and solid project pipelines to attracts investment and realise their full potential as contributors to Europe’s energy independence.
