The Challenge

Stena Line and its bidding partners needed to secure Government funding for a freeport on Anglesey.

The UK Government had pledged to establish a Welsh freeport through a competitive bidding process. Stena Line and its partners were determined to seize this opportunity, providing high-skilled, high-wage jobs to the people of Anglesey – an area that had suffered from low GVA and chronic underinvestment.

The Solution

We worked with decision makers to explain that Anglesey Freeport would seize post-Brexit trading opportunities and create prosperity for North Wales.

Our campaign included four core strands: building a wide base of political support; bolstering media and digital impact; building community support, and securing business backing. After four dynamic months of activity, it was announced that Anglesey was to become one of the first Welsh freeports in a high-profile site visit attended by the Prime Minister and the Welsh First Minister.
