Rebecca Ferreira is a creative intern in the London Office. Rebecca joins Grayling as part of our Creative Access<\/a> partnership.<\/p>\n

What sparked your interest in a creative role?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve always been super interested in visual communication and brand identity, particularly in how brands tell stories that resonate with an audience through advertising and campaigns. I always wondered if I had what it takes to work in a creative role where I could work on compelling campaigns that have a meaningful impact.<\/p>\n

Can you tell us about your journey into the creative field? What were some key moments that led you here?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I graduated in English Literature not having a clue of what I was going to do after.<\/p>\n

I worked in few different jobs post-uni until I took the plunge, quit my job & decided to put all my efforts to pursue work in the creative industry. I completed a 1-week Digital Marketing with Social Media with Iconic steps, learning under Creative Director, Mabdulle. A few months after, I completed another 3-month Digital Marketing course with WYK Digital. Both courses were incredibly insightful and gave me the confidence and skills to apply for this internship.<\/p>\n

If you had to describe your creative style in three words, what would they be?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I would say sporadic, spontaneous, and collaborative.<\/p>\n

What does creativity mean to you, and how do you incorporate it into your everyday life?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Creativity to me means being free, allowing your mind to run wild and opening yourself up to new things.<\/p>\n

Each day, I make sure to be as present as I can be in the little moments of the day, whether it\u2019s through the everyday mundane of life or through a conversation. There\u2019s always pockets of inspiration around if you allow yourself to be open to seeing them.<\/p>\n

Do you have a creative routine or ritual that helps you get into the zone?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I try not to force it, to be honest. It\u2019s important for me to be in a relaxed headspace and not put too much pressure on myself to come up with something amazing on the first try.<\/p>\n

I love having conversations with others, as I always feel inspired afterward and gain a lot of insights that give me good food for thought.<\/p>\n

What advice would you give to someone who is considering applying for an internship in the creative industry?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Be determined and don\u2019t give up, the right opportunity will come your way if you are truly committed to achieving it.<\/p>\n

Go the extra mile and show your creative skills in whatever way you can e.g., creating a creative portfolio of work you\u2019ve done or a mock pitch deck for a campaign idea and attach that to your applications\/CV.<\/p>\n

Choose a company whose work you admire and whose culture and values align with yours. Your passion for the company will naturally shine through in your application and interview, making you a great candidate.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the most valuable piece of feedback you\u2019ve received so far, and how has it shaped your work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Advocate for yourself and your work; don\u2019t hold back or feel the need to please everyone.<\/p>\n

This feedback has helped me find and develop my voice, generate ideas, and create work that is authentic.<\/p>\n
